Validation Gap Analysis

Image
Validation Gap Analysis of any product is the process of comparing actual performance to an expected performance, to determine whether validation requirements and expectations are being met. It shows a more unbiased reality of the product and provides its upcoming prediction. Gap analysis seeks to answer the questions “where are we” (current state) and “where do we want to be” (target state). Source: Presentationeze

Design Thinking 101

Image
Design Thinking is the quintessential combination of both creative and critical thinking. Focused on solutions, it utilises the principles of divergent thinking, which really is about brainstorming ideas with minimal restrictions. It is also known as the ‘human-centered design process’, which starts with the people you’re designing for, and ends with new solutions that are targeted at meeting the needs of these people. Impact Mapping

Image
Impact Mapping is a visual method that helps us take a step back from the features and think about what we’re actually trying to achieve.  It allows us to understand how each feature contributes to our goal. Thus we can prioritise features against each other, based on their impact. This map, which will evolve over time, will help us improve our roadmap decisions and the ordering of our backlog. Requirements Traceability Matrix

Traceability is one of the lesser understood aspects of business analysis. It is indeed quite hard to maintain good traceability unless automated. Traceability identifies and documents the lineage of each requirement, including its backward traceability (derivation), forward traceability (allocation) and its relationship to other requirements. It also helps in managing scope, risk, time, requirements changes, cost and communication. Source: BAtimes

Design Thinking Approach

Design thinking allows a business to inject new ideas without being constrained by the limitations imposed by the operations. Great product managers spend the majority of their time in "WILL" using design thinking to validate "IS" while challenging "SHOULD".  Dividing this mental framework into two halves makes it easier to visualize which thinking approach is most effective for managing change in an organization.
